As we've noted here several times over the years, Broadway musicals are not our thing. We in fact pretty much hate musicals (Sweeney Todd doesn't count; it's not a musical no matter what anyone says). So why is it we're hung up on and totally crazy for NBC's Smash, especially its production numbers which are superb, and especially its two girls, Katharine McPhee and Megan Hilty, neither of whom we'd ever heard of before and both of whom are hugely gifted performers, the former having a dancer's body, gesture, and movement and the latter a voice which are to die for? Interesting question; one which we find ourself incompetent to answer. * twog: the blog equivalent of a tweet; a blog entry of 140 words or less.
