Here is the lede sentence of a Guardian article on Katharina Wagner and the Bayreuth Festival that appeared in the Music section of the paper: "Wotan, father of the gods, has just kissed his daughter, Brünnhilde, to sleep and left her to burn alive." We posted a comment that read: "That's one helluva lede sentence for a Wagner-related piece. Which ignoramus is responsible for that grotesque absurdity? The author [one, Kate Connolly] or her editor — or both?"
