Off Hiatus

We now see that our blogging hiatus is becoming self-defeating. There are so many bugs in TypePad's new Compose Editor, and the Editor's partial distribution has created so many failures in other TypePad functions, that it will be weeks, maybe months, before TypePad gets everything straightened out. Consequently, we're simply going to bite the proverbial bullet and fly without a safety net keeping our fingers crossed that when TypePad finally gets its act together, all will be well again. And if not, well, then not.

We've seriously investigated switching platforms and moving Sounds & Fury over to Blogger or WordPress, but, for one thing (there are others), Blogger has no Import function at all, and WordPress's TypePad Import function is broken (as is TypePad's Export function), which means none of the existing 1100 S&F posts could be transferred over to a new Blogger or WordPress blog. And that's just for starters. Having to reconstruct the rest of S&F on another platform is an enterprise that would take weeks of solid work, and that's a prospect we simply can't — or, rather, refuse to — face. And so we remain prisoner to TypePad — for better or worse.

In short, Sounds & Fury is off hiatus, and online again.
