And The Plot Thickens Further
This continuing melodrama sure beats Days Of Our Lives in both its bizarre twists and utter predictability, and is the absolute equal of the melodrama of any conventional Italian opera.
Ironic, that last, all things considered.
Eva Wagner-Pasquier on her candidacy to run the Bayreuth Festival:"I do not feel too old or over my zenith at all [Ms. Wagner-Pasquier is 62]. I am intellectually challenged every day and I am ready. But this time, the [present] Festival Director [Wolfgang Wagner, Ms. Wagner-Pasquier's father] should resign and not invoke his lifetime contract if he doesn't agree with the Board of Directors choice. What happened in 2001 [wherein the Board voted to install Ms. Wagner-Pasquier as the new Bayreuth Festival Director, and Wolfgang refused to step aside] should not be repeated. The resolution from 2001 ... , however, is still valid in principle."
