The following video was made by blogger Tony Darnell of DeepAstronomy. Its lyrical narration tells of the so-called Hubble Deep Field, an image first captured by the Hubble Space Telescope in 1995 which image was followed in 2003 by the Hubble Ultra Deep Field, an image that probed the universe even deeper yet. Mr. Darnell calls this image the most important ever captured by humankind. We agree.
Oh, and if you think this space video off-topic for a blog that concerns itself with earthly human culture, think again.
And here's the same video, sans narration and original music track, borrowed by someone who calls himself Inglesantonio who inserted a new music track: Enya's Pilgrim, a poignant New Age ditty that's somehow fitting on several levels.
