[W]hat do any of these newfangled pops concerts do for the cause of classical music? Not a thing. They may put money in the coffers of the local performing ensembles, but they do not serve the mission of bringing listeners to the art form, our art form, which is different in kind from pop music and the reason all of us are in this business in the first place.
