My native band, The Philadelphia Orchestra, has struck a deal with NPR made possible by a revenue-sharing agreement that formed part of the contract signed by musicians and management in the fall of 2004:
NPR has agreed to broadcast recordings of 26 Philadelphia Orchestra concerts from the current season on upcoming episodes of the weekly program SymphonyCast and the daily show Performance Today. Twelve of the concerts will be broadcast in their entirety on the SymphonyCast, and 12 will be divided into shorter segments and broadcast on Performance Today. Plans for the remaining two concerts have yet to be determined.
